Before cloud-based technology became popularized, mold designers needed to have all the schemaics and geometry and software loaded on to their hard drives.
A cloud-based software removes this difficulty as it gives molders the opportunity to maximize their day-to-day production. An article in Plastic News talks about software company Autodesk and their specialized simulation program, Moldflow. This enables mold designers to download large models that traditional computers cannot handle, have all calculations done on a remote server, and allowing their own systems to have room to run
other programs. All these can be accessed through a secure log-on.
