GMO Cloud K.K. Launches IQ cloud and GMO Cloud Public

Tokyo – April 1, 2011 – GMO Internet Group company, GMO CLOUD (formerly GMO HOSTING & SECURITY) announces the launch today of virtual private cloud, IQ cloud and the April 25 release of GMO Cloud Public Cloud, a public cloud solution featuring unlimited virtual machine (VM) availability.

IQ cloud: Virtual Private Cloud

Launched today, IQ　cloud is a virtual private cloud service available from ￥102,900 a month and capable of functioning as a business machine room. The comprehensive cloud solution offers initial consultation, system planning, architecture, operation and surveillance as well as private cloud level security achieved through a segregated environment. IQ cloud can be implemented at an affordable price making it ideal for customers concerned about costs or whose requirements are limited.

Private cloud standard security level

IQ cloud provides dedicated or semi dedicated server, storage and network connection port resources. As a result security risks associated with multiple customers’ virtual machines being under one hypervisor*1 are reduced. In addition the network is segmented using VLAN*2 preventing communications being intercepted by other system platforms.

Performance to rival private cloud environment

By providing each customer with the dedicated bandwidth (standard: 10 Gbps) required for server storage I/O*3 and network I/O, we make it possible to achieve the private cloud level performance necessary to maintain the sophisticated internal systems required by business.

In order to respond to the needs of businesses that don’t have the resources to make a large upfront investment in implementing a private cloud solution, IQ　cloud provides only the dedicated resources required to achieve private cloud performance and security. Optimized to provide a flexible cloud platform
IQ cloud solutions are billed in accordance with the resources occupied by the customer, not by number of virtual machines. Customers are free to use the maximum level of resources allocated under their chosen service plan in whatever combination of server types, number of VMs, size, OS etc. they like.

GMO Cloud Public

Set to be launched on April 25, GMO Cloud Public, like IQ cloud is comprehensive private/hybrid cloud solution. Available from ￥1.5 /per hour*4 GMO Cloud Public offers highly flexible resource provisioning.

Most public cloud services*5 enable customers to scale out by adding virtual servers. However when a user adds new virtual servers they are also adding resources they don’t need, and as a result can end up paying excess fees for unused resources. Recognizing this problem, GMO CLOUD has developed GMO Cloud Public a highly flexible cloud solution that doesn’t depend on virtual servers with fixed allocated resources. GMO Cloud Public provides optimized system operation without prohibitive setup fees or unnecessary operating costs. Going forward, GMO Cloud Public will add data centers in North America and Asia to boost service availability and diversify risk. Deploy additional resources in as fast as three minutes, unlimited VMs

GMO Public Cloud customers can create unlimited VMs under one service plan without incurring additional fees. Virtual CPU, memory and disk capacity resources can be freely allocated to each VM to build an operating environment capable of achieving stable performance. For example, if you wanted to deploy two web servers and one database server in the cloud you would be able to create those three virtual machines. Customers can create VMs from their GMO Cloud Public administration screen in as fast as three minutes.

Scale up or out!*7

Essential auto scale out and auto scale up features take advantage of the flexibility of cloud solutions. These features automatically strengthen resources to either improve performance by distributing server load or improve server processing power. Customers define parameters from the administration screen to achieve automatic system scaling. Scaling back is just as easy, ensuring efficient operation without unnecessary costs.
